Putin expects new large-scale projects in the Arctic involving foreign partners
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, took part in the ceremony for Christophe de Margerie tanker designation, held in the Port of Bronka (a deep-water port in Saint Petersburg). The ceremony also featured Valentina Matviyenko, Federation Council Speaker, as well as the Minister of Energy, Minister of Transport and Minister of Economic Development, along with Leonid Mikhelson, CEo of Novatek, Patrick Pouyanné, President of Total, and de Margerie family.
At the ceremony, the President has announced that he counts on Yamal LNG progress acceleration, as well as the emerging large-scale projects in the Arctic with international involvement.
The President also noted that Yamal LNG is highly valuable for Russia, and is a considerable contribution to the global energy industry, facilitating the successful development of global spaces, forming the demand for new technologies and hydrocarbon transportation, as well as creating new jobs.
Putin has emphasized the contribution of former Total General Manager Christophe de Margerie, referring to him as “a country’s long-standing and precious friend”.
