New arctic field hides large gas reserves, informs the Minister
“We have tested 9 sections of the deposits of the Valanginian and Apt age. We found gas and gas condensate everywhere”, states Mr. Donskoy in the interview given to Interfax, informs “Vedomosti”
Kruzenstern licensed site is located partially inland and on the shelf. According to Mr. Donskoy, Gazprom is preparing for the test well boring on the offshore part of the field.
Gazprom informed about the plans for boring in May.
The drilling equipment was shipped to Sabetta – a new marine port on the North-eastern part of Yamal peninsula. Then it was delivered to the drilling area, located 380 km away, informs the representative of the company.
Kruzenstern site is situated on the western shore of the peninsula, not far from the giant Bovanenkovo field, where the extraction works have been carried out since 2012. The reserves of Kruzenstern field are estimated at 965bn cubic meters of gas С1 category. The field partially occupies the shelf of the Kara sea. In 2016, the first well was drilled on the field.
Gazprom intends to have the field on stream in 2022-2024 and extract up to 33bn cubic metres of gas.
The offshore part of the field provides for the erection of the artificial island to enable drilling. The construction works will “start soon”, says the Deputy General Director of Gazprom Geologorazvedka Nail Giniyatullin at the ceremony, dedicated to the erection of the memorial sign “First well”.
The development of Kruzenstern field opens up prospects for the development of the adjacent Kharasaveyskoye field.
